Florida Governor Promotes Property Tax Amendment In West Palm Beach
Using the first day of early voting in Florida as a bully pulpit, Florida Governor Charlie Crist predicted a revival of the slumping South Florida real estate market if voters approve a property tax amendment on the ballot. Speaking today to a packed ballroom of about 700 people, including local officials and political candidates, Crist said passage of Amendment 1 on the ballot will motivate homebuyers and home sellers, igniting the entire economy.
Using the occasion to deliver the crowd pleasing rhetoric, the Governor described in patriotic terms the tax proposal drafted by state legislators during an October special session. “You’ll see a dramatic change in Florida’s real estate market,” Crist said. “It’s about freedom, economic freedom,” he told the audience at an event hosted by the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches in the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach. “The ability to move within the state to get a better home, to live their dreams, to improve their lives, to have the quality of life they have dreamt about.”
